The Importance of Preventive Maintenance
A clean room that doesn't receive proper maintenance loses its classification. HEPA filters degrade, seals deteriorate, and differential pressures drift out of specification.
Recommended Maintenance Program
Daily - Visual verification of differential pressures - Temperature and relative humidity logging - Door and seal integrity inspection
Weekly - Surface cleaning with validated protocols - Alarm function verification - Particle count record review
Monthly - HEPA filter integrity testing - Differential pressure sensor calibration - Injection and extraction duct inspection
Semi-Annual - Partial ISO classification recertification - Deep cleaning of plenum and ductwork - Filter life assessment
Annual - Complete ISO classification recertification - Preventive HEPA filter replacement (based on service life) - HVAC system operational qualification (OQ)
Warning Signs
Watch for these signs that indicate problems:
- Differential pressure out of range for more than 1 hour
- Particle count above limit in 2 consecutive measurements
- Temperature or humidity out of specification
- Unusual HVAC system noises
